KANDA HA KAMISHIN RYU IAIDO

Kanda Ha Kamishin Ryu Iaido was established in 1976. The United States Iaido Federation was formed as the governing body for the Iaido of Kanda Ha Kamishin Ryu. Soke Albert Church learned Mu Gai Ryu from Soke Shogo Kuniba In Japan. Soke Church studied other Kenjutsu Ryu's such as Katori Shinto Ryu, Omori Ryu, Muso Ryu and the Ten Shin Ryu.

Soke Church was taught and discovered important aspects of both Iaijutsu and Kenjutsu. Because the Formation of the Kanda Ha Kamishin Ryu was formally recognized on November 1st 1968. All Kobudo was Officially recognized as a modern Do Way. Thus Iaido is used to describe the use of the Iaito and Shinken used in Kanda Ha Kamishin Ryu. Soke Church wrote the Manual for The United States Iaido Federation. This Ryugi was part of the Larger Nippon Kobudo Renmei and the Zen Kamishin Kai. The bokken is first learned by beginners, after the Basics-Kihon are learned then an Iaito Aluminum Alloy Practice Dull Sword is used to Practice Kata, Seiza No Kata, then Tachi Iai Kata. Stylistic differences are found in the Kanda Ha Kamishin Ryu Iaido. Shinken is used for the Advanced students as Tameshigiri is used to make sure one is properly using the Shinken in Kata. Two Man Kumitachi in Kendo Gear with Shinai is used to Practice Kenjutsu for a realistic practice.
